Good evening, I am writing to ask you info about the following problem. Today it has been the third time in less then 2 months that my Scantronic alarm started to make an internal sound - maybe a brief external one as well? - and give me the error "Sound Tamper Reset Required". I have performed the Engineer reset correctly all these times, but I was wondering if maybe this error means that I have to change my alarm battery. What do you think? Thanks for your help Steven

Hi Chaps Wondered if you could help. Ive a Scantronics 9651 with engineers codes etc. i recently moved a PR Sensor for decorating and tripped a fuse on the board. While out of use (awaiting fuses) I took the opportunity to remove the keypad and clean the contacts as several buttons were not working properly. Afterwards I changed the relevant fuse and despite having codes I’m unable to reset my system from a Bell Temper & Aux DC Fault. Any tips would be gratefully appreciated. many thanks Steve

Hi, I have a customer who has forgotten the password they were given at install and now can't get hold of the original installation company (typical). Does anybody know of a way to reset the machine back to factory default? Preferably without clearing the HDD. I know how to do other machines by shorting onboard jumpers but this isn't a machine I'm familiar with. xVision XHD 4channel XHR1080D4 Willing to pay if necessary. Cheers, J

alarm Calling all nerds and experts ! Please help!!
Marcous posted a topic in !!..DIY Installers..!!
Hi all, I bit the bullet today and decided to try and repair/set up my mums alarm which has been powered down and nonworking for some time. I’ll try and state all the steps I’ve made- then it’ll help with any advice you all might offer. Please excuse my lack of knowledge and experience, I’m quite the newbie. Currently at my mums house whilst she’s away hoping to sort this for her as a surprise for when she’s home. (I believe her alarm is an sl8 ade/accenta sl compact but I’ll attach photos for confirmation) SO! after having power drop out to the keypad some time ago I checked the panel box and found the PCB was bent and cracked from being not being clipped into its slot properly back in installation back in 2000! When I pushed on the board power was temporarily and intermittently restored (wiring to the pcb was fine) so I deemed a new pcb might be worth a shot. I swapped over all the wiring and powered up. (See first two pics for the model) immediately both the internal keypad chime and exterior alarm sounded. When seeing the keypad , only the far light led (power) was lit up - all keys made a sound when pressed. (Pic of keypad attached) So, where do I go from here? My next step I assume would be to reset the panel box- enter engineer mode- set new code for alarm system and yay! Problem is I don’t know how to do this! I think from a google search the system is an sl8 compact, but it could be a g3, it’s a bit confusing! Any VERY basic step by step instruction would be much appreciated! The PCB is in the loft- so I’m sprinting downstairs to the hallway each time to check things! many thankyous. -
Hi all, Just moved into a property which has abacus alarm system installed. One of my lil ones decided to press the panic button and now the alarm will not set. I've tried resetting but on reading some posts on the forum I'm aware I need to reset the panic button. The question is how do I do this? Do I need a special key? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! regards T

Apologies for reposting what others have experienced, but in my case I do have (what is supposedly) the engineer's code, and I'm still being locked out. Display: "Reset Required > Sound Tamper" Lights: Power LED (green), Service LED (red) I've tried typing in both the Engineer's code, and my own but in both cases the display says the code is invalid. I suspect I already know the answer ("the Engineer's code you have isn't the right one"), but I'm just posting in case I've missed an RTFM moment, such as 'press x, then key in the code'. I'm not hopeful, but I'd be a fool not to even ask if there's something I can do without the expense of calling out an engineer. Thanks in advance.
