Rich Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Not at the moment, but it's coming Private Security Legislation Where does it refer to installers of electronic security systems? I thought licences were for people dealing directly with people as listed, doormen, PI's, CCTV operators, clampers, keyholders.... And to add about qualifications, I have worked with engineers that quite simply should not be doing the job, fortunately for them they have had me to show them how to use a multimeter and how to solder, and to explain what the difference is between AC and DC. I wouldn't take on anyone that didn't have an understanding of the most basic of electronics, someone with a qualification in the relevent field will have this.

chris j Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I'm thinking of doing this at night school at college to make myself more emplyable as I'm having a hard time convincing people I can do the job due to lack of on the job experience, even working free on a trial basis does'nt seem to persuade people. I'm looking mainly for opinions from employers. Would you hold someone who had a C&G in intruder alarms in higher regard than someone that did'nt? Any opinions from other people are welcome too.Thanks. I did the C&G 1851 about 4 years ago, .Its only a basic course and most of the stuff covered was dated , Im not sure if it made much diffrence with getting me job intervievs but its nice to have on your CV. I think you wouid be better doing a C&G 2330 Course you wouid learn a lot more and be qualified as a spark after 2 years ,it seems to me most employers like this togher with your security experience it might make all the diffrence ,i know most employers are looking for expeirence ,but im sure this wouid help you to open more doors.
An Engineer Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I read your first mention of Electronic Alarms and my first thought was OMG i am so pleased people dont say things like this about my company. It does however answer a lot of questions.Jef Lol, is that with reference to takeovers etc. Did you ring Electronic Alarms, btw? Service Engineer My opinions may not reflect those of my employer, managers, colleagues, customers, friends, family or pet rabbit.
