The Comet Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Hey guys! Some of you may remember me, quizing you guys on all sorts last year in november about apprenticeships :See This Topic Here Most of you guys replied and gave me some great advice! Well i thought i would let you guys know how far i got with it. On tuesday, i went for a meeting/interview/informal chat at a certain alarm companys local branch/office, in my home town. I wont say any names just yet, but all went well! The company seems to be what im looking for, it seems to combine a bit of a national company (as they are) and the benifits of a small local company. Although not all of you would agree on the company, i found them good. During the interview i asked many questions and got some great information back. I was told that i should fill in the pre employment forms for police checks ect and then they can start to finalize things .. so it looks like once im left school (In june.. not long ) That i will have what seems to be a great career start! Instead of the usual apprenticeship, which i was looking at before, i will be taken on as a full time trainee.. (i will be doing servicing and installs.. including fire, cctv, access and intruder) this is because the lack of colleges in the area for day release for an apprenticeship in security. The nearest would be birmingham. Cant wait B) I should hear back on the checks in a few weeks, Regards and best wishes, Lee

Guest Cerberus NI Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Best of luck and listen to the old hands as well as the trainers - a lot of the trainers know their theory but can't put it into practice.

Experiance is a fantastic teacher and I bet the engineers you will be working with can show you a few tricks of the trade. Good Luck for the future and keep us informed of your progress. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
