Guest Peter K Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I have an accenta 8 intruder alarm system, which is now quite old but has been working ok. We had a short power outage over the weekend and the alarm started to sound off, but after a few seconds it started to "wind down" and stopped. When the power was restored, the system would not operate. All the devices, PIRs external sounder etc have their indicator leds lit, but there none of the keypad leds are lit. I have the cover off the control panel, which should activate the tamper, but there is no alarm. I have now lost touch with the engineer who fitted the system, so I don't know what the engineer code is. Can anybody help? Is it possibly a run down battery?

Service Engineer Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 NP, remember to totally power down the system, fit the new battery, enter your code to shut up the system, then re-apply mains, replace the panel lid and then press the reset button. ........................................................ Small problem! I do not have either the engineers code or the users code. I believe these revert to default if the NVM is cleared, but I'm not sure how to do this. Peter
morph Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 You will need an engineer to reprogram your system. As this forum doesn't give out engineer manuals or defaulting information.

I have an engineers manual, just not the codes. I will attempt to work through the manual to reset the codes. (In case this raises any concerns, I am a fully qualified electrical engineer, but I have not had any experience of alarm systems.) Peter

You could be anybody, you have written : (In case this raises any concerns, I am a fully qualified Burglar, but I have not had any experience of alarm systems.) how would we know otherwise? If you have the engineers manual you will be able to sort out the code issue and by the sounds of things you need new battery for the main panel and the external sounder(although a new sounder would be a better option)

Not taken personally. I do understand. If I come unstuck, I will need a local alarm engineer. I'm in the Liverpool area. Can anyone recommend someone? Peter
Guest Peter K Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 www.ssaib.co.uk www.nsi.org Thanks guys, seems to be working ok now. But if I've fitted a new battery, how will I know if the charging circuit is working? Could it just be that the new battery is fully charged and therefore everything is ok, but when it goes flat I'll have problems again? Peter
