Guest jabaroon Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Hi All, I have maintained many aritech alarms, but never actually installed a bellbox. Before I do my first I thought I would ask for advice rather than have it blast my ear off on top of a ladder!!! Anyway, I have an ASTEC 620 that I plan to connect to Aritech CS250 panel. The bellbox has the following connections available: 1) Supply + 2) Supply - 3) Sounder - 4) Strobe - 5) Tamper Return 6) Tamper Return (think a resistor is required accross 5&6?) 7) Negative Hold off The first thing that would be great would be to confirm the correct wiring from the bellbox to the panel (please dont spare details and let me know if there are any special settings on the board of the bellbox that I should configure!!). The second is the procedure. I dont want to end up on the ladder and have it go off in my ear! So, once I fix the box to the wall, whats the correct order of wiring, connecting to the panel, tampers etc..etc... thanks, Jab
Guest jabaroon Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Specifically: The last three houses I have lived in have Aritech alarms. CD34, CD34 and CS250. My brothers house has a CS250, my sisters has a CS250, my parents house has a CD34 and a variety of my friends have Aritech also. Many moons ago I had some big issues with an installer who would not release the panel to me and had the eng lock out enabled so I could'nt reset the panel (see my previous posts). On the strength of this I bought a second hand CD34 panel and with the help of people on this forum (and others) figured out what I needed to know to maintain (note that I say MAINTAIN) my system and those of my close family and friends. I have lots of exp adding new sensors, replacing faulty ones, adding dialers, diagnosing faults etc..etc... As I have never installed a system from scratch, I have never installed a bellbox. Rather than do this by trial and error (which I may end up doing), I thought I would ask for advice from the experts to avoid a potential accident (eg: me falling off a ladder when the alarm goes off unexpectidly). Its a little frustrating to be assumed guilty until proven innocent, but I guess I have some sympathy given the nature of the topic we are discussing. Now that I have hopefuly demonstrated that I am not a criminal, lets get on with the advice! , Jab PS - If still unsure, ask Dave to vouch for me. He sold me a dialer in 2003 and was very helpful in the early days with my questions around the CD34 panel, including supplying me with a full set of manuals for the CD95 panel.

What warning devices are fitted at present?

I dont have the manual for the sounder tho!
morph Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 The wiring is straight forward and is clearly marked in the manual, you will need to use a spare zone for the tamper circuit. The controls will also need to be programmed a directly driven external sounder, you might also want to consider and internal sounder as well. I would suggest you get a manual from the supplier of the bell box that you have purchased. The panel choice would indicate that you are not UK based.
