:hmm: Hi ,

Questions relating to my Veritas 8C .

The system was pre installed when I moved into the house-I have the previous user code.

Whoever installed the system left two unsightly cables on show in my hallway, and drilled holes in the ornate plaster coving to feed them through to the floor above.

I have disconnected one of the motion detectors and re-routed its cable where it can not be seen, the other cable was connected to the external bell box- which I had to disconnected in order to re route the cable.

The only way I could disable the external siren was to temporarily disconnect one of the two wires connecting it to the mini circuit board inside the box housing.

I have re connected all of the wires (except the siren which immediately activates as soon as wire re-connected), but now the control panel will not respond,

POWER LIGHT----------ON

UNSET LIGHT ---------ON

24HR LIGHT ---------ON

LED light in bell box OFF

Beep function when pressing any key not working

Non of the motion detectors are now functioning.

Any advise greatly appreciated

Hi , did you disconnect the cables at the panel ? , if not you could have blown the aux fuse.

Bit late now , but did you make a note of any connections before you started..?

Also , until you clear the 24hr fault and reset , you won't be able to set your alarm.

Regards.

Hi ,

Its probable that you have blown one or more fuses. These are located inside the panel, before going inside , remove the mains supply .

Hi Fastcar,

Going with your thoughts re blown fuses where can I get replacements from,

which ones do you think may have blown.

Thanks for your continuing assistance

the size of the fuse is written on the edge of the fuse. as for where you might get them. any alarm shop. where i live its EDS or city electrical factors. make sure you replace it with the correct rating as fuses are the things which protect the electronics from damage. never ever use foil or paper, not even for a short period.

also power completely down before doing this job. check the fuse using a multi meter not just visually.

Hi , they are on the bottom right of the pcb , probably F2 + F3 (bell and aux) , but as said , check with a meter or continuity tester .If you are really lucky , the installer may have left the spares inside the panel.

:)

Hi,

There are only two visible fuses inside panel - one on the right hand side, one on left.

The fuse on the right has blown (evident without testing) this is designated as F2 on the PCB the fuse itself is marked as F1A 250V.

The other fuse is visibly OK ( have'nt metered yet ) this is designated as F1 on the board and is also

marked as F!A 250V.

So when I replace the blown fuse what should I do to get the system up and running ?

The siren cable in the bell box is disconnected at the moment.

No fuses left by previous installer.

Sounds like you have an older control panel , and F2 supplies bell and aux 12v.

Link out the bell tamper if you are leaving the bell disconnected, replace the fuse and fire it up , ensure it all works , then attempt the bell.

Hi Fastcar,

I will be re-connecting the bell siren after firing up the system.does this mean I dont need to link out the bell tamper?

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does linking out the bell tamper involve, or dont I need to worry about this if I am going to re-connect the siren?

I have a feeling firing up the system is not going to be plain sailing - watch this space !!
