Guest BillyBean Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Danger newbie at large! I just installed a Sterling 10 panel (Yeh I know, I read some of your comments already) to replace a dead A1 panel. Everything works fine including the dialer when any of the PIR's PA or door/window switches are activated. My problem though, is how do I wire in the existing Bell & Strobe which according to the A1 manual has a "Self contained siren module - RSCB" with connections at the panel of: Bell +.................The old panel puts +12V on an alarm - but the Stirling has 12V permanently on Bell - .................these 2 connections. SCB 0 SCB RT STR +.................Strobe STR - Any advice greatly appreciated

The above connections are for the transistorised output version of the Sterling 10, if you have a set of terminals marked 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 next to the "B-" terminal, you have the relay version, which is wired differently. Also, it might be an idea to upgrade the bell box too. It's the most visable part of the system and the old A1 box is'nt doing much to deter any would-be theives, especially if it's got the A1 sticker on it aswell! Trade Member
Adi Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Isnt there also a daft link to do in the panel? I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
antinode Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I *think* there's a link to put in at the keypad, but I don't remember any for the SAB. Though it would'nt surprise me with Pyronix. Trade Member
Guest BillyBean Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Wow, thanks for the fast response antinode But I think you have given the connections at the Bell, I have 6 wires coming from the existing bell that went to the connections in the panel as shown in my original post. The bell & strobe connections on the Sterling panel are labled: Bell + Bell - BT Bell NO Bell C Bell NC...........Which I take to be Normally Open, Common & Normally Closed. Strobe No Strobe C Strobe NC The panel is dated Feb 06. Thanks.
Adi Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Right then, from what i can gather from the manual there are 2 daft links to fit. Ive only installed 1 and that came out after a couple of months but here goes. Link strobe C to bell C and bell C to bell - bell+ and bell- are you 12v supply strobe is strobe bt is your tamper bell no is your trigger. The keypad also has a daft link. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
kka Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 the daft link in the keypad is KTR to K- , and only 4 wires come back to the panel. why have you not replaced the old bell along with the conyrol panel? Guest BillyBean Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Sorry boys but I think I put this in the wrong forum, would have spotted the DIY forum if I had looked at the bottom of the forum page. You see I dont like ladders, but maybe as you say I should get up there and put up a shiny new box to deter the burglars. Which one is respected by them & you the most would you say?
kka Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 if you are not confident working off ladders, then don't, it is not worth the risk. maybe time to get someone in who is.. as for a new bell box, pyronix do the 'BELLE' with this particular panel. not be everybodies choice on here though... there are plenty out there that this panel will take, my only advice would be to get one that has the little alternating lights, that flash 24/7..
