Guest JimmyH Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Hi, DIY'er here! I'm setting up a Premier 88, and it's all going pretty well - I've got my head round most of the programming I ithnk! The one issue I'm having at the moment is using the chime feature. I want to set a zone to cause a chime all the time (this is actually going to be our doorbell!). There is an option to make an area chime all the time, so I've set the zone up in its own area. Step one I figured was to get it to chime at all though. So I set the zone to have a chime value, and manually enabled chime. The problem is that manually enabling chiime (by loggingi in as a user & pressing chime) only enables the chime on area A, and the zone I want is on area G. Chimes on area A work - I enabled one & it works fine (though it's not very loud, even with chime vol at max). So question 1: how do I enable chimes on areas other than A? I just can't find it in the programming or user manual. Following on from this, I want to enable the auto chime option for area G, so that the chime can't get turned off accidentally. this is a an area programming option (28 I think). It requires you to set a custom output - how do I just set a custom output to 'TRUE'? Thanks for any advice! J
Guest Alarm Guard Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 If you want it to act as a doorbell, and want it louder you could fit a 12v sounder to one of the outputs and programme that output to mimic a particular zone. You can also programme the speed of response and how long the sounder operates for. Paul
JB_ Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Couple of things to check that spring to mind. check in Area programming/Area Options for (9)PANEL SPEAKER and make sure its also assigned to area G. Check in Keypad setup for Keypad areas and make sure it's also assigned to area G and that chime tones on is enabled in the keypad sounder options. As for enabling chime in different arease I cant say it's something I've done before.
breff Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Program a code for area G, log in as a user with that code and turn chime on. The keypad must be assigned to areas A and G, and your normal setting code has to be set to area A only. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
JB_ Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Thinking about it just program your doorbell as Exit terminator with chime enabled on it and leave it in Area A. Don't wanna use an exit terminator to complete setting then just leave your arming mode as Timed or Entry/exit. Feel free to post if the reply above helped though.
Guest JimmyH Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 THnaks for all your suggestions - I will try them out tonight - the reason I can't get it to chime will be that the keypads are currently assigned to A only. the echoing to output buzzer sounds sensible too... And I really like the idea of using it as an exit terminator! clever! (as long as I don't forget to press it!) J
Guest JimmyH Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Got it chiming OK on the internal buzzer on the RKPs So two further questions: 1/ can I adjust the volume of the internal sounders on the RKP? I don't think I can.... 2/ can I connect an external speaker to the RKP - I don't think the ones I have are built for it - the label is there on the board, but there's no terminal attached. I think it looks like I may have to wire up external buzzers to an output, or maybe speakers from the main panel on long leads!?
breff Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 1/ no 2/ no except unless you have lcdl keypads. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
Guest JimmyH Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Just a quick note to say that adding it as an exit terminator on area A worked perfectly. Thanks all - that's this little problem sorted - a few more to go though!!! (will post seperately) ta, J
