a1steve Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 well //.National Installer.// are not a very good firm because they will not take any trainees on over the age off 24 even thought I am paying for all my training myself at night school. so how can it be a good firm to work for.

Err, //.National Installer.// have their own training centre in Birmingham and are one of the largest employers of trainee installers. You'll find most firms take this stance regarding cut off ages. Would you expect to walk into a top job without experiance of the trade? The industry is a hard one to break into (pardon the pun) and there is healthy competition for places. I'd suggest a smaller co to get a foot in the door first, once you have a bit of experiance behind you I think employers will begin to see you in a different light Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.

norman Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 It does not apply to trainee's Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

One question usually thrown at prospective employees is "Why do you want to work for us, and how will employing you benefit us?" It is a stupid question, but easier to answer if you know lots about them. Learn correct terms. eg. Learn what the difference is between a PIR and a dual tech, what SAB & SCB are. Good luck. Paul
ian.cant Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 There is a law now were employers are not aloud to restricted jobs because off the age off the employee. It does not apply to trainee's There is a law on its way but you will have to wait till Oct for it. Check this out, "Age and the Workplace" No more calling the old git "The Old Git", age discrimintation sonny! Ooops!
