Guest Pete Hulme Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 User want's to change code so, following user manual, they enter the user code and press "prog" all they get is a single low pitch beep and don't get into program mode. Assuming there's a fault I enter the engineer code and press "prog" to clear it and get the same low pitch beep and no entry. There are no faut lights on and the alarm will set and clear with the user code. Behaviour is the same from either of the two keypads. Entering a random code and pressing "prog" just gets ignored as expected. I've gone through the installer manual and it doesn't seem to mention this, just says "enter the code and press "prog" all zone lights will illumintae" but it just isn't so! Anybody seen this before and know how to clear it? I can'y get in to do anything else! Thanks. Pete
Guest Pete Hulme Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Thank you both Alarm Guard and dpaengineer, it looks like that is the answer as the code plus "00" puts it into program mode, thanks also for the warning about the programming being different, that could have been great fun Another dumb question then. I've checked and I have TWO versions of the installation manual for this system, both are different and neither is the right one! One has the programming instructions in chapter 3 on page 20 and has three award logos on the front for 2000 & 1999. The other has the programming instructions in chapter 4 on page 17 and has three award logos from 1999, 2000 and 2002 (so I'm guessing it's later). Both have the code + "prog" to program and seem to have the same programming instructions as each other. Given that this panel is older, is it still possible to obtain the old installation manual (Texecom only have the later one on their website) and from where? Also how would one identify the correct one, given that there are no "mk1, mk2" etc or revision notes in the manual. Failing that could someone please tell me what the programming process is for the old panel, or at least what is different from the later instructions that I have so I don't do something wrong? Thanks for the help. Pete Hulme
Guest Pete Hulme Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Thanks, Paul that gives me what I need to change the user code. I managed to get hold of the correct installer manual for this system and check it over and it is a mark 1 as you suggested. I was nervous once you saisd that the programming was different, no idea what I would have done using the Mk2 instructions to try to change code! I will be getting it serviced, it' serviced every year, mostly to keep the 24/7 maintenance cover. I do think it's invidious of the industry not to provide the installation manuals and engineer codes to the owners when systems are installed, after all we paid for the system and own the equipment, I guess it's too much of a cash cow. I still don't understand why the manufacturer doesn't clearly mark up the different revision levels of their manuals, especially when there is such a big difference between them

I'd check your maintenance contract then. If anyone here had a customer that meddled with engineering functions they would be in breach of contract. The clue is in the question, 'engineer codes', they're obviously not user codes. If you really want to search the site and you'll find this has been discussed at length every couple of Months or so.
