Guest Nic_78 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Hi all - I'm new and confused ! I have recently had a door contact put onto my existing accenta 6 system. Since this has been done the exit/entry times do not work. Every time I come back into the house the alarm goes off before I can get to it. I've tried changing the times (I think I'm doing it right !) but nothing seems to work !!! Can someone please help ??? , Nic
Guest Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 When you say 'had a door contact put onto the system' do you mean you got someone in to fit it? If so, get them back as they have clearly not finished the job off. If you've done it yourself then it's either; Set for immediate so it activates an alarm as soon as you open the door. Correctly programmed as EE with any other devices on Inhibit but the contact is faulty Some other simple error.
Guest Nic_78 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 RJB, We got an electrician to do it, he kept saying that the circuit board must be faulty seeing as it's not setting ?! He didn't have a clue how to fix it and I've tried it myself and not got very far !
Guest RICHL Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Faults on entry/exit timers are common on this type of panel, IMO your sparky hasnt got a clue what he is doing and didnt even test the system before he left. Get a pro in.

If you don't know......ask.
Guest Nic_78 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I've got a manual for Accenta 8 which the electrician gave me. I've tried doing the entry/exit timers but it's not changing, I think I'm following the manual properly. I'll try getting him back to sort it, although he's done the same as the manual too - maybe it is faulty ??

You have a problem with your electrics? Get the sparky in. Simple really, would you get an alarm installer to advise you on electrics? Guest Nic_78 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I know what you mean - his advert did say that he installed alarms though. You learn the hard way eh for your help.
Guest Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I know what you mean - his advert did say that he installed alarms though. You learn the hard way eh Unforunately, yes. I quizzed someone once on how much he did on intruder as a sparky as his adverts said the same as above. Turned out he once, years previously, fitted a wireless alarm from B&Q and it worked so he thought that was it, intruder alarm engineer!
