Guest dr_scouser Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Hi all We moved into our house five years ago which has a Gardtec 370 alarm using several motion sensors. It has never been serviced in the time that we have been in the house but has worked flawlessly. Due to renovation work in the house I had need to move the keypad to a new location. I opened up the keypad and removed the wires ( having noted their colours and locations). When I removed the last wire the alarm sounded which stopped after its 10 minute timer. Now that I have replaced the keypad in its new location and reinserted the wires there is no power to either the keypad or the motion sensors. I assumed that I had blown a fuse on the main circuit board in the control box but upon testing this it is fine. When I have tested the main control box there is power getting to the board but it does not seem to be getting to the keypad. Any thoughts on what might be causing the problem? Thanks
Guest rjbsec Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Have you checked all fuses? Have you checked for power to the keypad at the panel end? Have you checked that you have re-wired the keypad correctly?
Guest dr_scouser Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Thanks for quick reply. Keypad is definately wired correctly. I have checked the glass fuse on the control panel (F1). There do not appear to be any others. There are four wires to the keypad from the control box. (Data in/out) is showing 12.5V but (12V aux +/-) is showing 0V.
Guest rjbsec Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 but (12V aux +/-) is showing 0V. There's your problem - I'm not familiar with the 370 but there must be a blown fuse somewhere, or you have blown the panel and rendered it useless. {Edit} Looks like it only has one aux fuse so doesn't bode well if you are sure it is okay - another vague possibility, check you haven't shorted the cables to the keypad.
antinode Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 There is only one fuse on the 370 PCB for the AUX supply. If that is intact (check with a multimeter!), check your wiring at the keypad, and make sure the resistor (I think its 680 ohm) is connected between +12v and D in. If all that seems fine, you may have blown a track on the PCB. This is rare, but I have seen it happen. Trade Member
