Yes, but that camera is on offer until end of June so a bit of a saving is available too, which is always a bonus :)

It certainly is!

Like i said the DTV-VLL is basically the same camera as the 415, if its going in a housing i use the VLL and use the 415 for internall on a bracket as it looks better. Unless i use domes then its the SID 45 or 450. If they could get the 450 price down, then i would be even happier.

Ah yes i know the one now, i have installed them and they are great cameras

I think the case is ugly though and would rather use the Concept Pro range from Videcon Here they are around the same price and spec, 5 year warrenty and look better than the silver case of the DTV-VLL

There is a major problem with the Videcon day/night dome, you cannot wall mount it on a brick wall without having to gouge a huge hole to keep the tails in. Cant fault the camera image, but the design is pants, whats the point of the 3 way gimbal type thing if you can wall mount it?

BTW the DTV-VLL is actually the body camera version, the DTV-144 is the colour version which only works to 1 lux, if the light isnt good the camera is ****. The DTV-VLD which is the new day/night version (without LED's) is the mutts nuts. I sort of agree about the antivandal case but it grows on you.

It might be worth checking out the Genie website for this kind of kit. They've got some good prices and the kit's not bad.

30m is a long way for the kind of light amplitude you'll get from a mini-dome though, let alone getting a mini-dome camera with a lens capable of capturing a useable scene (1/3" 74mm'ish). Is there no scope to have the camera located closer to the target area?

If you can already get a mini-dome that'll get you the requried scene, is it necessary for the IR source to be a part of the camera? It's not as if the camera or the lamp would be seen from 30m away, at night.
