How old is this system? If its an early one the jamming is possibly now due to new police radio equipment.

Like Whistle said turn off the jamming (on-board link) or update the system.

Its brand new, just installed last week, they haven't been able to use it after the first day. going back tonight, so fingers crossed. i didn't know the 500 gave the option of turning the jamming off.

Link on PCB ;)

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

How did you get on?

I have the same issue although it seems to alarm out infrequently and the site is a new housing estate, although I must admit I'm not an alarm engineer it seems easy

to open the housing and move the jumper to "ANTI JAM OFF"....

Cool site with great information, I did get an installer to install the system 8 months ago and believe that installers should be used to

install systems (Even DIY systems) but simple jobs could be done with some free help.....

cheers

If the systems are detecting Jamming and indicating so, then there IS A PROBLEM!

Switching off Jamming does not cure the problem, it simply hides it from view and prevents the system from telling you.

If you think about it carefully, how does the system get an alarm signal from a device to the controls? BY RADIO and the system has picked up jamming, so if you switch it off the signal may or not get through!

So do you then have an effective alarm system? NO You need to find the cause of the problem, not simply hiding it.

Getting a professional installer of Wireless systems in to check the system and do a radio survey.

Yes I understand where you are coming from, the Manufacturer has suggested disabling the unit from alerting, so what would the need to pay god knows what to get the unit tested when the maker of the unit has specifically said to disable the alert process?

Whilst I can understand your suggestion why does the instructions say contact the manufacturer and when you do they tell you to disable the function? As it happens very infrequently I cannot see someone trying this to break into a residential property?

The original post may well benefit from what you suggest as the unit has never worked, my system alarms out on Sunday morning at 8AM and another day randomly, suggesting a local issue, as I stay within sight of a transmitting station (not saying where) which means TV/Mobile/Police/Radio waves are probably stronger I think the only option I have is to switch the Jamming off....

I'd like to hear your further thoughts and welcome the input.

Thanks.

If your systems being jammed how will it detect a an intrusion. It might be an intermitent problem, that why you need a professional to check the system out.

Rf from the mast isn't the only way to jam your system, intermitent now, but if it comes a full time issue and you have not looked into till its too late. What benefit do you gain.

The manufacturer would have given more advice than simply switching it off, did you make them aware that you are a DIY installer?

Thanks for your response....

I informed the Manufacturer that an installer installed the unit, as it was installed and tested fully, the issue has only developed recently and only alarmed 2 out of 4 sundays (always 8am)and then yesterday during the day (don't know when).

Whats your thoughts? How much would a check of the system cost? The previous installer has moved to a different area.

Thanks.

What area are you in? As rates will be different.

It could be a number of things and without visiting the site it would be hard to say, but i would suggest you look for things that happen at the time of the problem, both within the house and outside.

Hi,

IN County Durham....the house is on a new housing estate and the street is quiet, Sunday in the village I stay is dead, it has 1 policeman and very few people about at 8am on a sunday...

Maybe another house alarm being switched on or off but nothing else locally I can think of, traffic lights are around 100m away through buildings.

cheers

Have you had the system serviced yet?

I think if you got an installer out to have a look at it you might find that it is something simple, I will email you the name an contact details for an installer who will look at your system and charges a reasonable rate.
