Guest KenW Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I'm about to commission my newly installed system which consists of a Texecom Veritas panel, Texecom quad PIRs and a Texecom Odyssey siren. The cables run on the surface of the walls and I'd like to reroute them so that they're hidden. This will involve moving the control panel and rewiring the siren and some of the detectors. I want to get the suface cabling system up and running now because I'm going on holiday shortly. When I get back, I'll have time to lay out a better system of hidden cables but I don't want to have to cope with the siren going off when I open it up to rewire. Is it possible to arrange things so that I can do this? Is it something to do with the engineer code? Because I'm a slow worker, I'd probably want the siren off for more than a day.

Guest KenW Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Look in your oddyessey manual and read about the engineer hold off mode that sounds like it will sort you out Thanks, I've had a look at the instructions and it looks as if this might be what I need. In a word your going to need a ladder to discconnect the internal battery, either that or put up with the bell going off on battery until it times out. Those are the only two options im afraid. Thanks for your input Monteey, although the reply from Sparky83 offers some hope. But you might be able to answer what might be a dumb question. If I go up the ladder and remove the first bell box screw, the tamper system will set the siren off. What is to stop my assistant (wife!) from entering my PIN at the control panel and stopping the alarm?...or won't this work?

Hello, I don't think that will work since the bell it's self has its own tamper system.
