Replacing Battery

I have recently had a power cut and my key pad downstairs does is not lit up. If the power went off the control panel would normally show an indication that the alarm had gone off, but the the key pad is dead. Does this mean that the battery backup up needs replacing?

I have pulled out the fuse spur at the side of the main control panel and the key pad is now working, but not sure that the battery back up is working.

The Alarm system is almost 5 years old, any clues?

Many Thanks

Steve

But is it the battery?

If it is the battery, has the circuit board/charging circuit been damaged by overcharging?

Is the system operating as originally intended.

If as you say you pulled the fuse out and the system started to work then the battery took over as it should, did the outside sounder ring.

Its sounds like the battery, you could change it and have no issues, but you also have a few.

Unless you know what your doing, having it professionally serviced is the best option.

Reduces the risk of a problem in the early hours of the morning.

If you dont know what you are doing you would be well advised to get a professional to change it and check the panel, its not expensive and might be cheaper in the longrun.
