Guest SDC Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 OPTIMA COMPACT ACCENTA 8 MINI This morning we had a power cut. For the first 20 seconds of the power cut the alarm bell went off then stopped. When the power came back on (I don't know how long it was off for) the keypad had the illuminated lights on the number pads but the power and day lights are off. Also none of the keys on the pad do anything - not a beep from them. The main PCB box (separate to the keypad) has a red power light showing. The system is 5 years old and I've looked at the manual and there is no instructions on how to bring the keypad back to life. I've tried turning the power off at the fuse box but that hasn't helped. Any suggestions? Do I have any comback against the electricity supply people? Thanks.
Guest Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Sounds like the system has locked up due to a faulty battery\lack of service. You need to open up the control panel to be able to do anything with it, but it'll still be in need of repair if you do manage to do it so your best option is to call an engineer out to sort it out. You don't have any comeback with the electricity board.
Guest SDC Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Yep, looking at other posts here it does look like a battery fault. The PCB box is warm on right hand side (the side with the battery) - I doubt its the weather because its normal on the left hand side. The PIR detectors are also working OK (they light up red anyway). I have a contact number for the installation engineer, I'll try and contact him. In the meantime is there anything I can do to stop this (potential) battery fault from harming the rest of the system? Remove the battery?
Guest Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 ....In the meantime is there anything I can do to stop this (potential) battery fault from harming the rest of the system? Remove the battery? you can wait.. removing the battery at this time of the day might cause some nuisanse to neighbors when you open the panel door...
Guest SDC Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 you can wait..removing the battery at this time of the day might cause some nuisanse to neighbors when you open the panel door... All fixed now. The original installer called around this morning and spent 5 minutes changing the battery and testing the system. Looks OK!
ranger Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Glad its sorted. Did you talk to him about a regular service on the system? It should prevent future problems such as this as it would of been picked up that the battery was dieing on the last service. Regards, Ranger The above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or anyone else.
