Batteries

Hi,

I've got a Scantronic 9651 alarm which takes a 7aH battery.

As I couldn't find one I bought a 6aH battery from tlc. When it arrived yesterday I noticed they sent me a 7.2aH one.

So basically all I would like to know is if this 7.2aH battery would work in my scanny 9651?

Many Thanks, James

if it is the correct voltage and the physical size of it fits then yes, make sure you get the connections round the right way!

Thanks for your quick reply!

Yeh, battery just about fits in and my new alarm works great!

Only little niggle is the damn transformer!

I've got the control panel mounted on the partition wall the other side of my bedroom and all I can hear is the damn control panel humming!

Think I might move the panel onto the ouside solid stone wall tomorrow.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks, James

we can not condone you openning the panel as you expose yourself to thye risk of injury or lethal shock. you are advised to have a professional engineer to carry out any works.

as an engineer if it were me faced with this problem, i'd mount the panel on a sheet of 20mm ply, say 2 x 2ft and attached firmly if possible to the supporting beams of the wall, or if dry lined to the 'plods' of adhesive. it will give rigidity to the plastic box and so will reduce noticeable hum.

you did not read it properly, a wee 'chap' (not tap) with a screwdriver - aka perhaps a gnome as a short engineer

9651 is metal, tighten all the mounts if that don't work make your own antivibe mount by using bits of rubber grommets or cavity foam the void behind the end station

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thanks for you replies.

Opening the panel is no problem for me considering I personally installed the alarm just 3 weeks ago.

I've actually tried my own little diy type solution which seems to have worked quite well. I rang up one of my Dad's friends whos a retired electrical engineer and he suggested, like Mr Happy, some rubber grommet type things. So, I mentioned this to my dad and he suggested just use normal rubbers (aka erasers). So I cut up the bits of rubber to all identical size and the noise has almost gone completely away!

Thanks for all your replies, James

The above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or anyone else.

These will over time wear away, replace them with proper grommets when you can.
