The Comet Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Hello There, I was wondering... When you fit bell boxes..Do you drill from the outside to in or do you drill inside to out?? If you drill from outside inwards.. How do you know where its going to come out?? If you drill from inside outwards.. Where do you usually go to drill out to and how do you know it will come out in a good location on the outside?? Its something that is bugging me a lot.. Thanks Guys

Guest Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 It takes time, practice and a few hair raising moments. Can't with that. The more you do it the better you get. Usually.
The Comet Posted June 14, 2006 Author Posted June 14, 2006 Hey. Thanks for your replies. So do you usually drill from or to the loft? Most of the bell boxes ive seen are near/around a bedroom window rather than the loft... Where would the wiring come out then? In the bedroom and plastered? Thanks for your replies and sorry to be questioning about this.
ranger Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Agreed as above. I had an electrician talking to me today... He quoted "They are a bugger them alarm systems".. Me - "That depends on if you actully know what your doing" The above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or anyone else.
ian.cant Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Boxes near windows are often DIY or fitted by electricians. Or Prewired before its borded and plastered.
arfur mo Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Almost always in to the loft.Boxes near windows are often DIY or fitted by electricians. but could be a fitted wardrobe there too. so drill shaft makes nice coat hanger rail regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

Same with apexes, just check before you drill that there's not a water tank or something daft right behind the wall. I don't like bell boxes near windows. It looks **** and it usually means the cable has been stapled behind the curtain or around the window frame. Trade Member
