Guest evan Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Hi Everyone, just need some advice really, if anyone can help that'd be great. My house was built in '93 and we moved in in '98. I don't know for sure but I think the alarm, a RASCAL Super had been installed by the building contractors in '93. I've never actually got around to actually use it, but I want to do so soon. Firstly I think I need a new battery, as the alarm does sound immediately if the power supply goes off. How do I get one of these and how would I find out what type and from where? Secondly each downstairs Window/external door has what I believe are shock sensors. They are brown in colour and about the size of the "end" of a cigarette pack of 20. There is an led on them, which are normally unlit, but if you tap them the LED turns red/amber, goes to green after a few seconds and then goes off. One of these doesn't appear to work at all. So, how can I get a replacement for this, or are they fixable? And again how do I know what type to get and from where? Many thanks in advance for your help.
FASTCAR Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Hi Why not do a bell / strobe test and a walk test to make sure everything is working , then get an engineer to give it a service and new battery , he should also ensure the devices are working and advise if extra protestion is needed. As your system is around 13 years old , its better to do it now instead of 3 am . Regards.

What he said, but here is the user manual to be going on with.rascal_super_user.pdf Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Wooly-bobs Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 if i remember correctly, these panels have the testing instructions on the front of the panel. Quite right, they came with a sticker which never got stuck on as its more mess on the front.
Guest evan Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Thanks for the advice guys, I'll do the bell/strobe test thingy and then get an engineer to resolve any probs.
Guest kerry Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Hi I am having a similar problem with my alarm system. I have a W72915 Rascal Super/29 (Wikes) Alarm system which I've never used. My family and I woke up at 3am this morning by the alarm system. Since we've never used it since we've moved in 2 years ago and we have checked the various windows and doors we can't seem to find a fault. On the display unit the light for "Tamper" was on, does anyone know what this means. The system is really old as I've noticed the expiry date was 01 October 1995 and it was last tested by the previous owners in 1993. I don't know what to do or how to stop the damn ringing noise in my head. Does anyone know how to reset the system, the former owners gave me alarm number but this does not work. Help please!!!!!!!!!!! Kerry
