A couple of days ago I came home and my alarm had gone off with the tamper light showing as RED, keyed in code and after a few pushes of reset, which didn't appear to want to work the box bleeped and everything was OK.

Came home from work yesterday and alarm had gone of again, keyed in code, pressed reset and the keypad froze, tamper light still showing.

Downloaded manual and attempted to reset, found when powered off and took cover off that a wire was missing from 19, but loose in box. When I disconnected the battery nothing happened, apparantly alarm completely frozen.

Connected apparant loose wire to 19, reconnected battery, replaced cover and powered up, then did reverse and when I disconnected battery the bell rang.

Reconnected battery and powered up, keyed in code and keypad froze again.

After about an hour there was a bleep and the panel was back on day, shortly afterwards alarm went off with a tamper, keyed in code and alarm froze on tamper. Is it broken? Is there a way round this?

cheers

Hi ,

Sounds like you have more than one problem.Firstly it sounds like you require a new battery , and you could have a tamper fault .Why not ask around friends to see if anyone can recommend a reliable alarm engineer, and have it serviced.

BTW if its a 6 zone panel , its quite possible that no wire is required in connector 19 (strobe +ve). ;)

Just a horrible thought for you!

get a torch and shine it behind the keypad, you will also need to angle yourself so you can see behind it as well,

There is a resister there that is about 1 cm long and about 3-4 mm wide it should be a nice sand colour (Shiney) If this looks like its cracked broken or burned in any way then you will need a new panel (Its had it)

This normally gets this was when the alarm hasn't been serviced and the battery goes faulty at some point, The charging cct burns out.

Like I said its just a thought
