Smoke Screen Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 For those that have responded so far, and also for those that may be interested but have not yet responded. There are enough companies interested in doing sub-contract work for us to hold a training day. The proposal is to hold a training day at our factory in Maidenhead. There will be no charge for the day, but equally we would be asking for your time and travel to be supplied FOC. The day will focus on installation of the various machines and also advanced techniques such as ducted runs, multi (over 5) machine installations and ancillary products that supplement the smoke generators. There will also be a briefing on sale of the product and a tour of the factory to complete the day. Completion of the training will result in manufacturer certification of competence to work on Smoke Screen products. Lunch will be supplied. Proposed dates to follow. If anyone would like to see anything added to the day's programme, or for whatever reason cannot attend a day of this nature, please let me know and we will do our best to accomodate you. As mentioned, this post does not close the request for sub-contractors, so if you are interested, do not hesitate in letting us know. Thanks again for the replies. Service Engineer Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Matt you likely know of the pending introduction within EN50131 (TS50131-8 - Smoke devices). Has this in anyway changed the installation/operation requirements and if so will this be covered on the training day.? ........................................................ Smoke Screen Posted June 17, 2006 Author Posted June 17, 2006 Matt you likely know of the pending introduction within EN50131 (TS50131-8 - Smoke devices). Has this in anyway changed the installation/operation requirements and if so will this be covered on the training day.? Good point Dave, The EN is still at the working group stage and currently most of the discussions are centred around nomenclature. That said, there are likely to be some kit changes to allow for grading of the equipment in line with BS EN 50131-1. Those changes however are unlikely to drastically alter the physical installation of security smoke product This topic and the likely outcomes will be covered in the training, though obviously the information may become superceded when the EN is published (i.e. if there are changes that come out during the working group stage). In the event of that happening, we will publish updates to keep everyone up to speed. FYI, currently the working group is made up from representation from all the European Security Smoke Generator Manufacturers as well as the BSIA and the BRE. Trust this is helpful.
