Guest kmac Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Hi I have received a few quotes and want to check for reliability/robustness of the equipment 1) Eurosec CPX panel and Eurosec V40 range PIRs 2) Chubb 3G114 shunt lock Some have said that the locks with the microswitches are unreliable so just wanted to check. Any advice gratefully received

Service Engineer Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 locks with the microswitches are unreliable I have never come accross any shunt lock with an un-reliable micro-switch. ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)
ian.cant Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Chubb 3G114 locks have been used in security systems for longer than i have been in the trade, so in excess of 20 years availability the only thing that i know goes wrong them is the brass keys wear out...........eventually! "Some" will say anything if it suits them and especially if theyre being paid!
whistle Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 I removed 5 of the above last year cos some keys went missing. They where all about 15 years old and still ok. Infact one of the locks is now fitted to my shed door, controling the zones in the shed.
j.paul Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Chubb 3G114 locks have been used in security systems for longer than i have been in the trade, so in excess of 20 years availability the only thing that i know goes wrong them is the brass keys wear out...........eventually! The biggest problem with Chubbs is badly cut keys The Barrel and Curtain do wear on a well use lock, but as Ian says you should get 20 year+ 3G110 is a more secure lock if you to pay the extra There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
