dsw Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Hi guys, Have just recently installed a 4 camera system on an industrial unit, internal domes, dvr 365 and external samsung sdc-415 in haydon metro housing. Everything works perfect over net and pics look great except im' having trouble sealing the haydon metro housing outside. It is under a gutter but i dont think that it is leaking. Thaought they were IP67 rated anyway. Every morning when the sun comes out it mists up real bad for most of the day.Anyone got any sugestions. Going back today to try and seal it. May open the glands at the back a bit to let air in. What do you guys think. Paul

dsw Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks for your help. I thought the same, just been down there and opened up the gromets where the cable goes in in the cable managed bracket. This should let some air flow. If this doesnt work i will put some holes in. By the way, am very happy with dvr365. Internet viewing is superb. Cant quite get the speed of your demo though. Any suggestions? dvr and viewing pc are both on 8m broadband lines. Thanks

I have an old sample "metro-housing" from the overseas manufacturer you can have it FOC with another order if you PM me. Drill as many holes in it as you like then!! On the new DVR there is an easy option to add a new admin user using the System Q Ltd.
Tagfcuk Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 If the housings is well sealed and moisture is inside the housing then you will simply be re-cycling it all the time. Try a couple of silica gel bags in the housing before you go and drill anything. You might regret the holes on a misty November morning when the moisture really gets in! Never had to drill one yet and i would suggest its probably because you put the housing up with some form of moisture in it. Air it off/out, stick the silica gel bags in at the lowest point and seal it up. If it still steams up its because moisture is getting and it will only get worse as we near winter!
dsw Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Hi, it was dry when i fitted it. Was fine for around 5 days then every morning when the sun shines on it it mists up. There is a gutter above it but it isnt leaking. Anyway i have poped some holes in the bottom. If it makes matter worse i'l seal them up. Think the heater is working but if the sun is on it the heater won't come on anyway will it? as it is too warm. Seems like moisture is getting in at the very front as the camera is pointing down slightly. Thanks again guys
Doktor Jon Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Jarv, As Tagfcuk and ian.cant have already pointed out, your problem was almost certainly caused by trapped moisture, which is best addressed by placing a couple of dry bags of Silica Gel inside the housing (usually under the camera will do fine). Drilling holes in the housing is not a good idea, and will almost certainly cause more problems during the dark months! The other practical method for preventing internal condensation (bearing in mind the heater will not function when the internal housing temperature is above the switching threshold), is to fit a miniature fan which will circulate the air around the camera. This not only prevents condensation from forming, but also helps to prevent hotspots on the cameras PCB's, particularly during periods of high temperatures (so in theory, the camera lasts longer).
