Guest Onzadog Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 We all know that up and over doors are pants but what's the best alternative? Sectional or roller? Powered or manual? Which works best with an alarm and which stops the scum getting in with minimal damage? Security is my primary concern but convenience is my second, I don't want to spend three days unlocking the flippin' thing. I also need access from both sides of the door! Thanks guys.
Guest Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Try a roller shutter if its not a very quiet road. But get a steel one and not a plastic one. Elero do them and have some nice fast motors with remote control. You can then use a heavy duty contact interface it with a alarm panel and get the best of both worlds. http://www.elero.com/en;information;for-stockist;d:913.htm Hope that helps.
Guest Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Hi Richl, my reasoning for metal was because of the areas i work in, ie London. For domestic you quite rightly state plastic is fine.
Guest Onzadog Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 sounds like I'll need to go for a metal one then. I'll be keeping a motorbike and a few mountain bikes behind it, plus it has a door to the house in there. Hence why I want to gte as secure as I can. If I go with a roller, it will hang down 3" or more as there is little clearance, if I go sectional, the track just goes over the door! Can't win!!!
Guest Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Depends sectional size of small roller shutter is approx 250x250mm
