Can any of you recommend a mobile DVR unit that would be good for using in construction vehicles.

cheers

I'm biased here - obviously. The TransVu might be right for you, though it depends on what you need it for - might be a bit much :)

Thanks for that Phil and that might be the way to go

Has anyone had any bad/good experiences with the LJD mobile DVR system ?

What about an Archos AV500 be sure to mount any unit to try to reduce vibration.

How do you find these baywatch?

Is the quality up to using as evidence and is there time and date?

Everfocus do a nice single channel mobile DVR. It's not designed to be integrated into the vehicle systems though.

We use them for body worn systems (trading standards, mystery customer etc) all the time. They have a time/date on them & can be powered by the vehicles battery with a converter.

We havealso used them in vehicles & on motorcycles, but on the bikes the riders had theunits in their pockets because of vibration from the bike.

I am sure that it would be very simple to protect it from vibration, even in an off road vehicle.

Only the AV500 comes with the T/Date facility, but you can use the others with a T/D generator like those made by SystemQ.

You can also get a camera/microphone unit to plug straight in & power off the AV500 if needed.

I've been thinking along the same lines arfur mo,

I drive into Central London on average about five times a week, and to be honest, I'm getting ever so slightly p****d off with people trying to kill me. Call me old fashioned but I take it rather personally :realmad: :realmad:

It can get quite interesting when you find yourself playing chicken with a left hand drive car, complete with euro plates driving head on towards you down the wrong side of the road. That and the organised gangs of insurance scamsters, that repeatedly try to make you ram them up the backside (steady!) by braking unexpectedly; I've had that twice so far this year.

The only slight problem with an in car / van CCTV system seems to be covering all the angles. Side and rear view are equally as important as what's going on in front, but it's more a case of what is affordable as well as practical.

If anyones had any success with a similar setup, it would be interesting to know.
