Guest Alarm Guard Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Is any body on here a member of the ECA Fire & Security? How much is to join? Too much What are the benifits? Not many What are the requirements? A cheque book We are not members, but I have been approached by them several times. These are of course only my views.... and maybe I am wrong, but this is how I see it. There are so many things we can join, but we are SSAIB registered and nothing else. We have just received details of BFPSA membership and I was staggered by their charges.

John Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 We are ECA reg, easy to join, not too expensive, benefits are you get to use ECA logo - good for council jobs etc inspectors not V interested in ELV fire alarms, just interested in 240v side and smoke alarms/em lights etc In short go for it if you want to do grant work / council jobs etc. Much less hassle than Part "P" (P is for P*ss take) Fire Member

John Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 very approx (from memory) 350 ish to join/first inspection plus 350ish first year subs then 350ish P.A. fairly quick to get registered - must have 16 edition as very basic minimum quals. Didn't mean to imply on previous post that ECA was an alternative to Part "P" - we need both GRRRR! Incidentally I understand that the NIC registered lads get part "P" FOC with their annual fee?????? Wonder why anyone would want to join them rather than SSAIB or NSI?
John Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 cos our local councils only accept NIC, ECA or LPCB approvals for fire related work. Fire Member
