Guest logical001 Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Hi Guys, I've upgraded my panel to a M800. In order to save me a few years programing all the zones, can I use the USB port and do this via a laptop / software. If so what do I need and is it extra to purchase? Sorry for ignorance. Many thanks Jonathan

Guest Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 just proged a M750 with 12 zones in 5 mins or so from keypad. How do you define a few yrs of programing?
arfur mo Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 hi guys, this might be a useful tip, if you have kit using a serial interface, some of it don't like usb to serial converters apparently due to irq's and other dark arts :'( \ i had this problem with siemens hi path exchanges after trusty old laptop (with serial port) decided to become extremely disloyal to me - and die unexpectidly (ok, i argued it to death). i bought a generic pmcia to serial card off ebay for 15 quid and works a treat - just an alternative to usb problems. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
Guest ALSEC Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I have exactly the same prob at the moment - I have recently skipped my old laptop with serial port and now have a fancy new flashy thing with only USB - interesting to here that a

Nick Hi Nick, no I'm not in the trade. The reason why it would be handy is I'm approaching 35 zones via 2 x Mnodes and using the software would speed things up - I don't know about you, but labelling each zone seems to take me forever. I assume the fact you can't just simply download it is to stop systems being compromised? Best Jonathan

wheelers Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I would like to see a M800 fully programed from start to finish and 35 zones labeled via a keypad in 30 mins. Nick
arfur mo Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 oih! will you lot stop bitching? if your used to a panel, then its like typing, your fingers know where to go and press the right button, second nature like farting. so what is daunting to a guy just getting famillier with a panel, is toast for anyone working with them daily. now will you stop sniping at each other? i'm suffering from lead withdrawal symptoms! regs alan the King Requires peace in his realm If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
