leesutton Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 you need to check your fuse holders as they can become slightly loose and that will stop your voltage getting through, Iv had this a few times before and they were new from the box lee Lee Sutton E-Mail: leesutton@centurianfire.co.uk Website: www.centurianfire.co.uk Phone: 0845 094 9870 CENTURIAN FIRE & SECURITY (part of centurian group limited)
cjd Posted August 6, 2006 Author Posted August 6, 2006 you need to check your fuse holders as they can become slightly loose and that will stop your voltage getting through, Iv had this a few times before and they were new from the box lee we ref. to the post previous to yours, i assume the transformer is working ok as the green led ont he PSU board is lit up when the AC power is applied and also there's between 12 -13volts on the telecoms + & - feed (has the pic of a telephone. I've checked the aux fuse and its fine, the fuse holder looks Ok i have to squeeze the connectors together slightly as the fuse was moving arouns and wasn't making a good fit. Any other suggestions?? ( if the PCB is shot, any ideas where i can get another ASAP??) Thanks
camerabloke Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 have to test whether there is AC, suspect there is but is there enuf? think around 20 VAC but not sure. if there is AC and the board is lit up, it is most probably the boards knackered. Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
camerabloke Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 just install 2 amp psu adjacent panel and power detection off this Dont forget to reference the negative. Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
antinode Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 just install 2 amp psu adjacent panel and power detection off this Dont forget to reference the negative. Bingo Although it could work out cheaper just to replace the board, which I still think is dustbin fodder. If you're not in the trade, eBay is your only bet for Galaxy bits. Trade Member
camerabloke Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 i agree, but beware ebay bits Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk

While i'm posting on here, what's the difference between a galaxy 60 and a galaxy 16 plus??
antinode Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 thanks guys for your help, think i'll keep my eyes out on ebay - and yes i'll be careful of the dreaded ebay "bits". While i'm posting on here, what's the difference between a galaxy 60 and a galaxy 16 plus?? The 60 is (or was) the first "proper" Galaxy panel, the 16+ while OK in it's own right, is not really comparable to the 60. Similar interface but the 60 has way more features and zones, though the 16+ has an onboard digi that the 60 does not (has saved my ass on one occasion! Dunno why they did'nt put one on the 60) You'll probably have to buy a whole new panel for the PSU board and sell on the main board and metal box that comes with it as I don't think you'll find just the PSU board. This isn't good advice in my opinion, you might get the system working for a while, but in reallity you still have a fault with the controls. It may or may give up the gost when the system is set or in the middle of the night. The best course of action would be to resolve the fault, we spoke before on another thread about getting an installer out to have a look, this would be money well spent. You could also speak to a local company and see if as the system is in a voluntry organisation, if they would look at in return for some publicty, some nationals marketing people may jump at the chance.
cjd Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 Hi guys, have managed to get hold of another PSU. my question is this : once i've changed the PSU's over, would i be ok to take all 3 keypads' power from the "aux" supply ? the reason i ask is that I've noticed on the main PCB that there are two sets of pins labelled A, B, +12, -12. They aren't terminal block, but are more like the sort of connector that is used to link the main PCB with the PSU. (hope your following so far!!) does it matter how the keypads are connected i.e. to aux supply or to these connector sets? donat want another PCB going to heaven!! Thanks Craig
