Guest Markob Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Hi guys, need some help here I have this nexus 8 alarm, it has always been ok, however after reading comments made by people on here I wouldn't have another one. The situation is this, whilst I was away a friend came round to drop some stuff off. I had given them written instructions on how to deal with the alarm . They de-activated the alarm easily enough, however when it came to re-arming the alarm it alarm and instantly sounded the bell box . They assure me that all they did was enter the code and follow what was written. I cannot now get the alarm back to the Unset mode where the keypad displays Un. All I get is either the menu (where you can choose Pr, SE, ot etc, etc) or 3 other codes t6, t7 and t8, these flash one after the other. I have no idea what these codes mean as they are not listed in the manual , I can only presume that they are fault codes, would it be a bit strange to have 3 faults appear at once? Any help would be great, I am at a total loss, no idea what to do with the thing. I don't want to scrap the alarm and get a new one as the house has just been sold.. but I would like to pass on a working alarm. TIA.
FASTCAR Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Hi , are you sure you are not in walk test mode ?.Try pressing escape a few times.
Guest Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I dont know the panel either sorry - but is it set up for engineer reset maybe? - Although it does sound like some previously programmed out zones have now come into opperation showing tamper because theres nothing wired to them? - One of the other guys may be able to help if they are familiar with that panel.
morph Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 When did you last change the battery, these panels do strange things when the battery fails.
Guest Markob Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 for the input guys @Fastcar, its not in walk through mode, I accessed that today and it beeped when the pirs were activated, so I presumed that they were ok and I have accessed other menus. Whe I press escape I can only get back to the menu, not actually unset the alarm. @James Wilson, I think that each part of the system is set to a different zone, could be wrong, but I thought that the electrician who fitted the system put each pir as its own zone. If that is the case and the code is for tamper, then there should be some part of the system connected to zone 6, nothing on 7 and 8. SAB? @DNS, strange one this, I thought that it may be in engineer mode, however the default engineer reset code is having no effect, I have also tried the normal user reset code, again no joy. There is a menu that I can access which tells me who can reset the unit, like is it engineer only, this is telling me that all users can reset the alarm, which obviously they can't. Do you think that if I disable zones 6, 7 and 8 I should be able to turn the alarm off and return to the Un setting? @Alarmguard, I have never changed the backup battery, the unit is just about 3 years old, should this have been changed by now, I have no idea of the shelf life of these items.
Guest Markob Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Guys I have just had a play, DNS's comment about previously programmed zones coming on made me think. I have disabled all zones and the alarm has unset, I presume that I have to manually programme all needed zones back in, which is a much better situation than what I was in before. Thanks.
morph Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 You need a new battery and the panel reprogramming.
Guest Markob Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Well I now have the system working fine. I programmed out all of the zones and then re-propgrammed them back in using the walk through to identify what was what. I think DNS hit the nail on the head, when the code is entered into the system the first option is Pr (programme), the user presses "no" and the next option is SE (set), the user presses "yes" and the system arms. As I stated in my first post, someone else used the system. What I believe they did was enter the code and press "yes", this would have entered them into the programme menu and the alarm would not have armed. I think they must have then started to press the code in again and pressed "yes". The number co-incides with one of the preset zone options, this then sets all the zones to one of the default settings, using all 8 zones. As I said I am not using all 8 zones, which meant the tamper mode was cutting in on the unused zones. Thanks for the help guys, top job DNS
morph Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 turn the mains of to you alarm at the fuse box and what happens to the keypad and the outside sounder.
