Guest Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 ...Yes thats fast format so what is it you call it slow.. and no pun intended!! usual receiver here is able to receive SIA, CID and PULSE formats and since SIA and CID reporting takes only a fragment of time compared to pulse format they are called "fast" formats and PULSE formats are therefore slow formats. funny that ARC's there don't prefer SIA format over PULSE since they would need far less receivers then they do now (due to faster reporting)..
Guest Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I think we have the ;largest collection of Bold, scantronic and ademco recievers mate surely those wont receive ip then..
Guest ALSEC Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I would imagine some sort of computer server would receive the inbound IP traffic..
j.paul Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Sia monitoring here in the uk costs more at the arc than dtmp digi signalingAnd you can send sia 1-4 over ip with the world beating galaxy, im sure others can to i beleive the new castle stuff does too Sia monitoring cost the same as any other signaling, just can't understand why anyone would want to use "old dtmf 1-16 channel". We been using SIA's for the last 6 odd years and the only time we have had problems is with some of the new "EN" panels (NO Names) Castle panels only send SIA level 1. There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
j.paul Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 j.paul. We dont use SIA and i am curious you say you have been for 6 years. The main reason i dont prefer it is beacuse i prefer the panel and the system to make the confirm decision not the c.s. Maybe im doing them down but i have yet to find a 100% reliable one regarding good decisions Not sure I follow you mate, why would the CS make the "comfirmed" decision when sending SIA On side note to this, DD423:2004 does say "Consideration should be given to the use of Extended format reporting", eg SIA or ContactID etc. There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
Guest Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 yes dd243 does say this and yes i did consider it...honest!I understood with SIA that the cs decided depending upon what circuits activate whether to confirm or not, rather thn the panel sending a confirm, but it looks like I have this wrong no no no.. Burglary Verified signal will be generated by the panel (BV if i am not wrong) and will be sent by panel. ARC's do not decide if it is verified or not. eg. things happen in this order: intruder alarm from circuit 3 intruder alarm from circuit 7 panel sends (edit: along with ID and other stuff) BA 003 BA 007 BV 00x where x: 0 = system verified 1 = area 1 verified 2 = area 2 verified

Only reason for this to me would be for large buildings and annex`s so to report rough locations for police and security personal depending on the responce levels required for the owners.

Guest Stuart M Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Seem that this has wondered of on a side track a bit SIA level im using is 3 and its being used as the likes of SSS have requested it. it may cost a little more but gives you a lot of informaton eg zone text so is usefull to us and the client. j.paul said that he has had some problems with some EN panels are we talking G3/2 as this is the range im having an issue with and getting no luck at this time. I can hear the dig sending out on each event but ARC not getting the restores. Any more ideas don't think i should need to drop the SIA level as CS can coupe with level 5 XSIA so any more ideas if anyone has had simillar problems thanks.

Stuart, I strongly recommend you to apply for trade status so this can be discussed in detail.
