Guest Paulo Serra Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Hello, I have installed an C&K securitech Active5 with a Bentel ECHO self powered siren. I need to work on the main supply box in my house, but when I cut the power the outside siren goes off. In the users manual, it states that it should stop after 10 minutes, but 10 minutes with a siren in your ears is a lot of time... Besides that, the flasher light is broken, so I am not sure if it will stop at all, as the manual states that if there is no flasher light, the remaining battery will be used to power the siren ... Is there any way to enter it in some kind of "service mode", so that it does not go off ? I know I should have the alarm serviced, but I am getting a contract with a security company (securitas) to have one of their alarms connected to their central, so, what I want to do with this is to KILL the siren, oohh the headaches Greetings from Portugal! Paulo
Guest Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Paulo, firstly welcome to the forums Unfortuanetly, we are unable to give out this kind of information on the forums unless you are trade, due to the security implications with this being a public forum. There may well be a fault with the sounder if your description is correct, maybe the best bet would be to change the sounder anyway, and have it said to delay, so the signalling can go through to the C.S. first. The sounders in this country cut off after a max of 20 minutes, if your's sounds for 10, then providing you do your work at the right time of day, then I should imagine you could get away with it, maybe just explain to your immediate neighbours, you are doing some essential work on the system and it is unavoidable. Guest Paulo Serra Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Hello Dave, Thank you very much for your reply. In my new alarm, the sounder will be replace as well, I was just trying for a "clean getaway" from this one. Will have to do it with eardrums then In any case, that sounder will have a taste of my revenge for the headaches it caused me ! The thing should stop when I cut it's battery wires ! Regards !
Guest Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Paulo, I think you already have it all worked out for yourself You should be fine, power down electricity before going inside panel, just dont do any wiring with the system powered up, the sounder will sound until you "stop" it as you said. Use cotton wool in your ears, seriously, it will help take the edge off the noise, or even ear plugs if you can get hold of them. Good luck
