AlarmScot Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Another ressurection Okay, when in my dark distant Locksmith days was called to a gas leak. Remit was never to enter unless accompanied but this was superceeded by the Duty Officer and confirmed with a certain code we had. Opened window to flat in a council block ( Window was easier than the locks on the doors) and entered property, opened the door (bedroom) onto the hall and saw a family watching TV in the front room. Wife , a couple of children I could see and a bloke. After a quick RA (Take note plastic coppers) went back insie bedroom, shut door and exited thru window and relocked it. Frantic call to town hall revealed they had given the callers address, not the flat to force entry!!!!! Another one , on site with plumber when residents came back from pub or what ever. Bloke saw us, ran into bedroom and came back out with a sawn off shotgun, we legged it to vans and called plod. Was all sorted and we were given a tenner each and a case of beer from the gun toting person. We had called fpr assistance, not firearms. We knew the estate and had to work there a lot, so a little discression was used when calling plod. Hence the appreciation from the bloke. Who says we have a boring job!! Then there was the time the US Marines held guns to our heads, but you can hear about that another time You should always call the customer ahead of the visit!
Oxo Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 LOL @ SJS Marine one, pulling cables in the US Embassy and could not go further up nor down in a riser ( Big enough to stand in and climb), needed a foothold so pushed open a hatch and hey presto 4 big marines ( over 6 ft 6 tall and muscles on muscles). Guns drawn and screaming "freeze mother fooker" . Turned out we had accessed the comms room for the NATO headquarters and US liasion. Got escorted to the commandants ( Yes really) office and bollocked for a hour or so. But they did understand and did not shoot us or send us to that special camp they have. From then on we had "suits" with big buldges under their arms escort us thru the building. The food was brill though and when we sussed the prices were in dollars we had a field day with the stuff. Beer was Bud, so never touched it But you ever get a "Roll" from a US mil canteen you will soon see why they are so fookin big. It would have fed the four of us on its own!! Not sure you inderstood AScot, no customer to call. Empty property and Gas leak = court order/Councl allowed to access at any time. If any of you are in council accomodation check your rules and regs, they can access at anytime within reason!
sjsturner Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 That camp would have been G- bay? Sounds fun bet you needed new pants after tho!
Oxo Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Yeah Gbay And yes almost did a pants filling moment when I saw the guns with safties off. Well saw one, so assumed the others were too But this sort of thing makes the job more fun

I think your Electricity & Gas providers can gain access at anytime anyway to check you not try fiddle the meter.
Oxo Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I guessed you were jesting, so no worries. Gas and lekky need a warrant. Council has the rights in your T&C
AlarmScot Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I guessed you were jesting, so no worries. Gas and lekky need a warrant. Council has the rights in your T&C We do work for a council on doing the wired smoke detector and if the customer refuses to let us access we have Council Housing Officer out letting us in.
Oxo Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Yeah, they do hold keys. Why I always told the tennats to change the locks.
AlarmScot Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Yeah, they do hold keys. Why I always told the tennats to change the locks. Our local council fit new locks as standard. Our company makes a killing from the council for doing it. One of the most useful thing I ever been shown. How many homers I have done regarding locks, Too many.
