arfur mo Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Your system is waiting for a response from you. Im very rusty on the 9800+, by it may be waiting for a new code - have a look in the user guide under user code change. hi RICHL, usually if in client mode it times out after 30 seconds if no keys are pressed and reverts to day mode. exception -: unless in walk test mode, pressing 'clear' then er! clears it if that don't work he needs an engineer so post location and someone will contact him. regs alan I can nothing in the installation manual on this.As the screen is frozen, I can't input the engineer's code, so I am not sure how the sytem will react if I open up the system and try a reset and kick start the main unit. Or is the problem in the key pad? I would be grateful for your advice on how to resolve this problem. Giles hi giles, please read my footer for your best course of action and personal safety. if you installed this system yourself then work backwards to disable your systems sounders first. use your manual to restore it to factory startup and reprogram. if you used an older style 'ringer' bell rather than a siren then likely back emf may have jammed your panel so fit suppression, or better a modern siren. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
Guest Giles Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Thank you for all this guidance. It looks like there is no easy option but to reset it and maybe re-program it. With many thanks Giles
Darren Cooper Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Sounds to me like you have some how got the system into engineers mode. You would need to exit engineers but i can't tell you how to do that sorry. Best advice is to contact a local approved installer. The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
morph Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 If that doesn't work open the end station creating a tamper, close and then see what is on the display. have you tried this yet.
Guest Giles Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Whilst it may have got into engineer mode (unlikely as the keys pressed were not the engineers password), the system had clearly "frozen" and was not responding to any action to make it possible to get out of engineer mode. Causing a tamper problem, as suggested, had no impact. I tried pressing 0 six (or many) times as suggested, but to no avail. It did a simple reset which would have "remembered" the programming, but the system remained frozen. In the end I restored the board to factory settings and reprogrammed from scratch. The system is now working as before. Many thanks for all your suggestions. Giles
