arfur mo
I HAVE AN ACCENTA 6 CONTROL PANEL FITTED WITH SONADE 2000 BELL BOXIVE HAD THE SYSTEM ABOUT 8 YEARS AND IT USED TO GO OFF WHEN I HAD A POWER CUT SO IVE REPLACED THE MAIN BATTERY WHICH SOLVED THIS PROBLEM BUT IT NOW SOUNDS WHEN POWER IS RESTORED. is this happening on short power cuts or prolonged one's as well? for you siren to sound either the controls has to tell it to operate ie go to alarm condition or the power is removed from the siren. it sounds more like a possible charging or tamper fault, your siren may have a dodgy tamper switch, this in turn is 'amplified' by the power outage causing a lower voltage. when restored the sudden higher voltage 'kick' cause's the alarm activation your best bet is call in a skilled engineer, this may sound an expensive option, but need not be, check on estimated price before agreeing. it may save your contents from being removed and the termoil and sense of greivance involved, even if you 'make' on the claim. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! Brian c
The panel and bellbox both have a backup battery. If both are fine, turning off the mains should have no effect. The bellbox battery should only sound the alarm if it loses power from the panel. It sounds like both batteries are faulty. When you restore the power, the panel is going into full alarm if you need the code to silence it and this implies the panel battery is dead. The fact that your bellbox doesn't sound implies that it's battery is also dead. When you turn power off, does the panel still function or is it dead? If you don't know......ask. Guest andy5468
thanks for your input. i know that some time ago the bell box tamper was linked out in the control panel as it was indeed faulty and it was at the time supposed to be a short term fix. i came home today after a powercut and the alarm had gone off and i had to enter my code on entry to the house even though i never set the alarm this morning before leaving home(it was left in day mode). To be honest i havent set the alarm for some time.Is this tamper link out likely to be the cause of the the problem?Think its about time i got the box changed

Brian c
Ok so the panel battery is fine. For it to activate when power is restored would point to a spike like Pete and Alan said, and/or faulty bellbox. If you don't know......ask.
Guest andy5468
thankyou very much for your help guys. i assume if it is a "spike" then there is not alot i can do about it.This spike is just a surge in power then when power is restored and not a fault?? However like you suggest i understand it is wise to get the bell box replaced anyway.
Brian c
We can only assume without actually being onsite. I'd recommend a visit from an engineer if you continue to have problems and to check the bellbox/tamper. If you don't know......ask.
