Matt the Teckie Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Dear all, Bearing in mind that I'm greener than Kermit on a ferryin high wind, I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm more of a CCTV chap myself. I'm looking for the best Intruder panel you've used that's ethernet ready. I have some control gear that I need to interface with the panel (i.e. set it up, arm, disarm, activate and interrogate). Not really bothered how expensive it is but an idea would be good. Huge thanks in advance
Matt the Teckie Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 Thanks James, Just out of interest, why the Galaxy? Is it the industry standard (it certainly gets mentioned a lot), easy to use, good tech etc?
brizee Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 gotta be a good move, we fit loads for //.National Installer.// and Secom, Personally I like the max readers, you get access control included, just bolt on the readers into the line and your off. Had a bad experience once, setting up auto sets on timers for different groups. works brilliant when people forget to set the alarm, but i had phone calls for years from service engineers cos they couldnt suss it when tryin to change programming. A very adaptable panel simple enough for the stupid and flexible enough for the more specialist.
Matt the Teckie Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Brill, thanks brizee. Which Max unit do you use matey? Are they loads cheaper than Galaxy? Also do the likes of //.National Installer.// and Secom specify anything other than Galaxy? fella
james.wilson Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 A max reader is a prosimity reader for galaxy. If you knew this there a re 3 types the original max About plamsized and square and cream in colour with a grey sticker the MicroMax which was a rebadged product that was very slim (about 10mm) and 50mmx35mm ish and the new max3, my fav, slightly biiger than the micro max but this one is reliable long term (the micromax had issues with its ldr based tamperswitch) but i do miss the realy that the micro had securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
j.paul Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Brill, thanks brizee. Also do the likes of //.National Installer.// and Secom specify anything other than Galaxy? fella //.National Installer.// use DSC panels everywhere in the world apart from the UK DSC do have a ethernet mod for their panels Also Guardall PX now have a ethernet mod, but not used it, but I think georgahti has, so may be worth a PM to him And just out is the SigNET which will have ethernet on the 300 panel.. There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
Matt the Teckie Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Thanks chaps, I REALLY need to to learn this stuff. Feeling at bit daft... Anyone know of a good website for "Intruder Alarms for Dummies 101"?
