baywatch Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 The amount of spam from China is incredible (Taiwan & Korea was bad enough) there must be loads of companies trying it on over there.

QFA! ever wondered why your laptop weighs so much?? try sometimes to put your PC on the scale and weigh it before you connect to the internet and after. so look after you desktop. can you imagine what would happen when you have tonnes of spam! your PC will end up in basement!!!
Will M Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I know some people don't like the DM sprites, but I have used them for most installations so far, for DVR. I have not had any bother with them. I built a PC and stuck in a DVR card. It was ok ... ish. It needed to be restarted every now and then. I also had to reinstall windows twice over about 18 months and just recently replace the unit with another Sprite. I would not go PC dvr. In my experience its not worth the trouble. BTW looking atm for another 16 channel sprite 2, If anyone has one lnocking around..
baywatch Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Depends how good you build the computer & the spec. We have fitted many PC systems for at least 6 years. The 1st digital system we fitted (which was used to prosecute 2 murderers successfully) used a card with PIR detectors to capture a few imagesat a time.
Guest branded Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Thought about going IP? Couple of Cheeky BLC-10's or a BB-HCM381 going back to a PC running BB-HNP11 recording software. (All Panasonic Kit) Branded.
akpak Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 pc based recorders have their pros and cons but dont use an existing machine whatever you use it needs to be dedicated to the task. A budget would help So lets assume I don't use pc as a recorder what do you recommend and lets say a budget of Alan http://www.pakatak.co.uk
