Guest fraxos Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I have recently moved to a new flat where there is a Scantronic 9449 (at least that's what the manual says) with a 9427 keypad. All was well until last night when I accidentally set off the alarm by pressing the panic alarm. I was told by my landlord that he wasn't aware of any codes as is had never gone off before but he suggested that the code may be 0000 (the default) which I promptly entered. This did absolutely nothing. The external sounder went off for 20 minutes and then just kept flashing (still is!) and now every time I walk into a room the alarm goes off. I type in 0000 which temporarily stops the high-pitch sound but only shortly, until that is I walk into another room. I tried to find the main board (the 9449) but it is nowhere to be found. This is driving me insane! Please help me!

Guest fraxos Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 mjw, don't worry about it. I managed to find the main box and followed the instructions in the engineer/programming guide to reset the system. All works fine but as soon as I exit the programming stage the tamper LED flashes and the internal sounder is on. Any ideas why that might be? Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks in advance. you havent operned the panel up at all have you as this will cause a tamper, or if the panbel is closed again and the panel spring for the tamper circuit has not been seated porperly this will also cause it. In order to rest the system I did indeed have to open the main panel. But I have closed it again. So the only thing I have to do is make sure that the tamper circuit spring is seated properly?
james.wilson Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 the problem is mate you have a system and no code, regardless of what you do you will still need a code. If there was a 'burglar' code that most people think we know that will 'shut dowb' everything, this would solve your problem. For obviousl reasons this isnt the case. I doubt your control panel switch has anything to do with this. This is your landlords responsibilty to sort surly, so the adbice id normally give to you you can pass on to him, along with the invoice. You need a professional to come out to this and solve it for you. IF you request that than im sure a couple of memebers will contact you to arrange a visit securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

As I said earlier I have the engineer manual and that states how to reset the whole system if you do not remember the code, providing you know where the main panel is hidden of course. I took a gamble and followed that. That worked all right apart from the tamper LED which I am inclined to believe that what CJTELECTRICS said holds.

james.wilson Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 i think colin meant you have a tamper fault, and as you have opened the panel chances are its that, but it might not be, could be another one aomewhere else securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

Assuming it is the springer is it just a case of pressing it so that it sits right, or is there anyhting more to it?
