hi guys,

hoping for some furter help if possible,

going to order my alarm kit on monday and wanted to check on which sensors to buy for windows ?

they are pvc and i was considering texecom impaq plus vibration detectors ?

are these suitable ?

there have been some burglaries over here lately where the thieves have removed the entire glass pane from the double glazed units,

would these do the trick or should i be looking at something else ?

many thanks in advance guys

Depening on how the glass was removed(ie smashed??????) the impaq will work if fitted on the window...if they are cutting the glass and removing it..it depends as the device works on vibration(not stating the obvious) and if you set the device to max sens it will pick up everything(including thunder storms and when your neighbour farts :banned: )...so you may be better off with a P.I.R or a Dual Tec(depending on enviroment),although keeping the buggers out is a lot better!!!! :bruce_h4h:

high wizard,

personally, i'd go for the pir dual tec as you 1st option in all rooms, as to protect each pane of glass will be far more expensive and depending on what your value of effects held is, this would be usually 'enough'.

if you fit glass break sensors, vibration sensors and also contacts to the openning sections obviously you are increasing your protection, and more likely to detect the attempt earlier, rather than the actual intrussion after the perimiter is breached as with a motion sensor.

what you need to concider is if the intruder removes or breaks the glass, its only a few seconds before he enters the room, and he my trigger the motion sensor as he climb's through it, and hopefully scares him away before he steals or damages anything.

so in effect you are only 'gaining' a few seconds of early warning by using window protection at most, against a motion sensor is properly placed.

you will also be subject to externall sources like window cleaners and neighbours tapping on the window when you are out to see if you ignored your very loud forty tone door bell (and yes the doo do it  ).

many break-in's are oppertunists, windows left ajar on hot nights and so on, often an intruder will break-in grab the DVD Recorder and a clock and run, working on the basis that reponse time of most people he will be well gone before anyone reacts. if he stays he's got to brave the sirens and a possible neighbour checking the house over, this usually stops you house being emptied, but it's your 'call'.

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
