Guest AndZ
Great forum... Hi Im relatively new to forums and CCTV but talk to me about computers and I may be of assistance. As a computer company we are involved in network and AV installation, we've only done a couple of camera installs (of which I wasn't involved) but would like to get more involved in computer based security (PCI DVR's). I have also recently had my house broken into and my car keys and car stolen. This has prompted me to kick start our CCTV offerings and using my house as a testing ground for computer based CCTV. For the last 2 weeks I have been trying to assess camera's and DVR's from information on the internet - but it is a minefield if you do not know exactly what you are looking for. I am interested in 3 fixed dome or bullet cameras with IR and a wireless camera for flexibility. Although having read a lot of the posts on the forum I understand an IR dome may not be much use. The 3 fixed cameras will be placed under the eves of the house and should be discreet. Since our break in I've heard a story where the thieves had moved the cameras to point to the sky during the day and then broke in on the evening. So does that mean bullet camera's are out of the question too? Should I use Avermedia or Geovision, I was looking at something like the GV-800. Because of the industry I am in the size of hard drive and system spec are irrelevant. We deal with the majority of IT based distributors but none really specialise in CCTV. I have looked at many of the online retailers, but we do not want to deal with companies that are also selling to end users. We have had to deal with poor margins long enough in the IT industry I've applied for trade access although I'm not sure if we will qualify, but I would be grateful for any feedback via the forum or pm on any reputable distributors selling decent kit at decent prices, it difficult to tell who is rebranding the imported stuff these days. Since I am not posting in the trade section I will be discreet - We are aware of distributors such as N*****n, Sk*******s, G*****r Security and V****K. I do believe you get what you pay for the majority of the time, but we don't want to be selling rubbish. If it's not good enough for me, it's not good enough for anyone else. Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance for any assistance given. Keep up the good work.
