Sounds like the panel might need some filters fitted to take the electrical interference down to earth - a local installer should be able to help and check the system over at the same time.
Guest Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 perhaps, but after 10 years? just put replaced the lamp with low energy one?? try walking in to the room with out turning on the light, maybe a trapped cable under carpet or a worn cable. that what I'am thinking......
Guest rjbsec Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 try walking in to the room with out turning on the light, maybe a trapped cable under carpet or a worn cable. I would think that the bedroom has been entered many times without the light being switched on - changing clothes, making the bed, vacuuming the carpet etc, all of which would soon highlight the problem if it was just a damaged cable.
The Arab Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Is the bedroom light and the alarm on the same fuse ? if so try wiring alarm into a different lighting circuit or fitting mains filters if you don't want to swap wiring. Trade Member
Anusoflannigan Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Your original installer has wired onto the switched live instead of the live feed. Your battery is goosed and now every time you switch on the light it loses the mains feed to the alarm panel. When your battery was ok you never noticed. You need to get someone qualified in electrics to sort this out for you.

Hello thanks for reply. It was installed by an alarm company but I have moved a pir and keypad myself due to extension on the house and had no problems for about two years. The alarm feed is off a socket ring and not off lights. About four years ago had new fuse board installed, some electrical work done and earthing upgraded I do not know if this would affect the alarm installation. Alarm also went off when we were on holiday in july but thought this was due to really hot weather. When alarm faulted last it was as a result of switching the bedroom light on as it happened several times but only on that switch, the panel also showed tamper and engineer light. Hope this information is helpful. Alarm working ok at the moment.

Sounds like the light switch or light fitting is faulty and it is injecting interference down the mains, As was suggested earlier either fit a filter or replace the light switch Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
