Guest batleyboy Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Hi , on my optima 2 plus keypad the power light is flashing and bleeping every 5 seconds indicating that there is a problem with the power supply , however on the main box up in the loft everthing looks ok with the red power light on and the green day indicator light on, however niether keypads respond when pressed. Please help.
Guest batleyboy Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Sounds like a battery fault. Thanks old hand. Is there a way of testing to see if it is the battery or not because the way i thought that if the battery was dead was if i turned the mains power off and that would set off the alarm indicating that the battery was not backing up. Needless to say i have done this and the alarm was not activated.
Guest Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 If you have switched off the mains and the bell didnt ring then the battery is holding up the SAB. If you are able, take the cover off the panel and check the visual condition of the battery, then using a DVM check the voltage. Battery should read about 13.8 VDC. HOWEVER IF YOU ARE UNSURE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE PANEL, DANGEROUS VOLTAGES ARE THERE AND CAN KILL.

Is it worth trying a new battery anyway my only concern is that the alarm will go off and with the buttons on the keypad being non responsive at the moment they will stay like that and i will not be able to switch off the alarm.
Guest Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 In my limited experience with the optima`s a duff battery can cause loads of probs such as this. A mains kill and new battery may well solve the problem as the nvm will retain the programing.
