Hi Folks, I wonder if you can answer a couple of probably 'dumb' questions. I'm in the process of installing an alarm system at home. As its an extremely old house, running cables is not straightforward, so to simplify the cable runs, I've decided on an ID system. The choice was between the Menvier TS690id and the ADE Karizma Plus. However looking back on these forums, and ADE seem to have some quality issues, so I'm going with the Menvier. I'm in the process of running the cables, and I'm using screened cables for all the ID runs, and keeping it away from mains cables wherever possible. My first questions is what do I do with the screen at the panel end? Do I earth it to the metal casing or connect it to the 0V output? I'm assuming it should be earthed?

My second question, is whether I can fit duel external sounders? If so, do I connect them in paralled to the same output, (tamper is in series I know)?

Any general thoughts on the TS690id or things to be aware of?

Finally, I have the details of local stockists from Menvier, but can anyone in the Kent area (Maidstone/Ashford) recommend a good alarm equipment supplier - preferably a Menvier one, otherwise I'll have to resort to picking one from the list.

Thanks

Clive

One thing to watch with 2 bells tampered in series even if ones set to scb, when we used to use menvier was that when the bell was activated it causes bell tamper.

If u use texecom bells and wire them as they instruct there is no problem with running 2 bells if 1 is set to scb

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Connect the screen to 0v..... not to the earth (if this is the case you have just extended the RF pick up capability to the complete household earth system!! gas pipes, radiators etc etc.)

The Menvier is a super panel and has a 1.5 amp power supply, installed competently will give you years of trouble free use.
