Guest andrewe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Hi I have a Galaxy 18 system and wish to start using the part set option at night. Unfortunately the system has not been configured correctly and the PIR in the bedroom is included in the part set which makes no sense. I cannot find anything in the user manual to show me how to disable the PART attribute for this sensor/zone although it explains that this is the setting that determines how the part set works. I own the system and have the manager code but no longer have a maintenance contract with the installer nor I am aware of the engineer code. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
camerabloke Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 you will need the engineer code to sort out the programming for the bedroom pir. if you cannot get hold of this code, the panel has to be defaulted, and we cannot give you this information sorry forgot to add, there will be loads of companys who can do this for you if you hang around these boards Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
Guest andrewe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Thanks for the reply. A few questions if I may: 1. Can I achieve the same thing by doing a set and omitting zones? 2. Is the company who installed the system originally obliged to provide me as the owner with the engineer code (without charge)? 3. can the manager user set up another user with engineer capabilities? Thanks
camerabloke Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 1. can do if the zones are setup in engineereing mode to be ommited 2.no and they will charge you if they come out 3.no if you take out a maint agreement with a company, they will reprog it for you for free when they do the first maint well i would anyway, but thats just me Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
Guest andrewe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Thanks for the reply again. Sorry if this is a silly question but when you say above "can do if the zones are setup in engineereing mode to be ommited" do you again mean that I cannot even do this without the engineer code? or would the manager code be enough. Thanks
camerabloke Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 u need engineer code to set up zone omit to enable user codes to be able to omit zones.or hope that they have allready been enabled! but beware, if you say to your insurance you have an alarm and you get broken into with zones omitted, they more that likely will not pay up Eucam Security Systems 0845 4630 746 www.eucam.co.uk
Guest andrewe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Thanks for the clarification. I think I have access to the omit zones option via the manager code. What I want to do is set the system overnight whilst in the property but just for the PIR in the living room. Then in the morning do an unset and a full set when I leave the property if that makes sense. Really what I need is the part set function configured for the PIR in the living room but I am loathed to pay a company to configure this as I know I could do it myself as I use alarm systems in my work. thanks for your help.
Guest rjbsec Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 "Using" alarm systems in your work, is quite different to programming one to work effectively under all situations. You should do as advised and get a company in to service and re-programme the system to your requirements.
Guest andrewe Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I'm near the Oval. Whilst I appreciate what rjbsec is saying re. professional advice it is frustrating that in order to use the part set all I really need to do is change the PART attribute on the PIR in the bedroom to disabled. I may be oversimplifying of course. I was also wondering whether the Galaxy 18 be connected to an Ethernet network for monitoring?
