Guest Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Dont go there too often, have one maintained there not due for a visit for a while as bells only. Dont recall the old 18 having ethernet facility. Not a million miles away though, can assist if required.
bellman Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Dont recall the old 18 having ethernet facility. If the panel has software v4.xx it can accept the ethernet module. It fits in place of the telecom module (or as well as). Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.

bellman Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I did say the old one, not touched a 18 for a bit. And you were quite correct, The old versions of the software didn't have this feature. I was pointing out that the v4.XX version did have this facility. oops thats not a good advert is it Not much difference between the two beasts actually, just a few extras in the menu's for things like the ethernet module. If you have experiance with the old versions then the newer ones will be a doddle. mjw Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Thanks for the clarification. I think I have access to the omit zones option via the manager code. What I want to do is set the system overnight whilst in the property but just for the PIR in the living room. Then in the morning do an unset and a full set when I leave the property if that makes sense. Really what I need is the part set function configured for the PIR in the living room but I am loathed to pay a company to configure this as I know I could do it myself as I use alarm systems in my work. thanks for your help. One thing to bear in mind is when using the omit function(if you can) the circuit will only be omitted for one set/unset only... B)
breff Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 The other thing about using omit is that the armed zones will still react as they would on a full set. ie. the hall detector would still cause an instant alarm rather than start the entry timer. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

redkent Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 HiI have a Galaxy 18 system and wish to start using the part set option at night. Unfortunately the system has not been configured correctly and the PIR in the bedroom is included in the part set which makes no sense. I cannot find anything in the user manual to show me how to disable the PART attribute for this sensor/zone although it explains that this is the setting that determines how the part set works. I own the system and have the manager code but no longer have a maintenance contract with the installer nor I am aware of the engineer code. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks another way of setting the alarm at night would be to omit the bedroom sensor before you set this wil help in the short term but you will bneed an egineer to sort out the programming in the long term clive B)
