mikhail Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Hi everybody, I've installed Vista 48 on a site (not first). An indoor external siren is connected to terminals 3 and 4, red jumper is cutted, 2k ohm resistor is connected. *176 is programmed as 0/0. At the test of system the siren works properly, but after some time on the keypad display "Bell failure" message is appeared. Have any ideas?
mikhail Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 "Bell Failure" indicates a problem with the wiring to the bellbox but as I do not have much experience with that panel I cannot offer more explicit help. I agree, but I've checked wiring several times. It looks O.K.
mikhail Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 Have you metered the cable for continuity? Yes, and I have 2k ohm on terminals 3 and 4.
mjw Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Yes, and I have 2k ohm on terminals 3 and 4. So what voltage is the panel supplying to the 'bell'???.....
1_hour_install Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Hi, If the Vista 48 I know is the same as yours there should be no monitoring of the siren/bell by default unless you cut a link on the board. I have come accross this problem before where the link is not cut and bell failure message is displayed. In this case my only option was to replace the control panel. Also did you default the programming before programming the system? I have found that this can cause problems if not done as well. So i would say default and reprogram the panel and check to see if the link is cut and also measure your resister to make sure it is not out of range e.g. +/- 10%. The vista 48 i work with is a little different as i dont have a feature *179. I have 178- rf supervision and 180- zone bypass limit.
