SecurityMan Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I am sorting out a systems for a client that was last used 4 years ago. I have contacted the last service company and monitoring company but they have no longer have records of the Engineers code. So when the alarm is triggered, it becomes inoperable (because it needs this code to reset it) Clearly I can do this by accessing the alarm box and power cycling the system, but this is unsatisfactory for a proper installation. I do not want the blank out the whole system and reprogram it all as it is quite a large house. Does anyone know how to reset the Code The system is a Castle Care-tech 1700 Thanks (I am happy to have a private email if you do not want to publicly publish the details)
ian.cant Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 It is quite possible the servicing company do not know the engineer code in the system, for many and various reasons, the main one being if it hasnt been used for 4 years then it unlikley to have had a maintenance contract during that time. The ony sensible way for you (Security Man) to proceed is to engage the services of a proffessional security engineer who will be able to solve the problem for you. Seeing the system hasnt been used for 4 years there are likely to be other problems with your alarm system.
SecurityMan Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 I just need to know if there is a way of resting / overriding this code on this particular alarm - not necessarily how to do it as it will save my client the expence of me reconfiguring the whole system after a full reset. The system has been checked over and is in full working order now.
james.wilson Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 no there is no way just to wipe the code ie back door if thats what your asking. Service Engineer Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 If you don't know the current engineer code, then you have to default the entire system and re-program from the beginning. ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)
