HI ANOTHER 1ST TIMER TO THE SITE.

I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO INSTALL A 4 CHANNEL COLLOSUS DVR ONTO THE INTERNET BY MY CLIENT.

I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE BUT I THINK I'VE GOT THE JIST OF IT.

TOLD CLIENT HE NEEDS TO INSTALL BROADBAND (2MB) WITH A STATIC I/P ADRESS

DVR CONNECTS TO ROUTER WHICH THEN CONNECTS TO THE B/B LINE

SET UP I/P ADDRESS ON DVR SAME AS ROUTER, SETUP SOFTWARE ON CLIENTS HOME PC, AND BOBS YOUR UNCLE I HOPE.

JUST WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE FITTED ONE?

DVR IS FROM LJD COLLOSUS PRO 4.

Thats pretty much it .Ive done the bosch ezo but not the LJD but i dont think theyd be a million miles apart

your customer will have to fix his I/P adress with his provider

you will find it esier to fix the router to the DVR from a lap top

install the software and conect that to the router the DVR is connected to then find it and fix its I/P via the router

Oh please dont shout it hurts my eyes

hope you find this usefull others posting may be able to help further

Life is like a box of choclates.....if you dont get there first your left with all the naff ones

You may need to set up port forwarding in the router, or if worst comes to worst put the dvr's ip in the dmz.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Has the DVR got DDNS,if so no need for static IP

Not always available on DVR and depends on Manufacture

Remember when using ADSL your link is only as good as the upload on the connection, ie 2mb downstream usually is 256k upstream so you will only download images at 256KBits Per Second.

They have just put bethere.co.uk LLU kit in our exchange 24MB down 1.3MB up, for 24 quid a month, i think i will be avin some of that action..... ADSL2.
