Guest Graham Fisher Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Dear All, I am the neighbourhood watch co-ordinator for our street in Flackwell Heath, near High Wycombe Bucks and am trying to help a neighbour with a problem that they have with their Concept 6 alarm. I have to tell you at this point that it was installed in 1995 and has never been serviced!! The alram went off a couple of times in the night two days ago and my neighbour was able to reset it with his key code. It then went off again and he removed the fuse (it's on the lighting circuit). He left the fuse out for a few hours and then the alarm started going again (Power failure notification I guess). He put the fuse back in which silenced the outside alarm but now the internal pannel is sounding but none of the lights on the panel are working and none of the buttons either. However the PIR detectors seem to be working (lights going on and off) and the power light is on on the main control unit. I realise that the battery is probably shot but can anyone suggest anything to stop the internal alarm. I have given them the list of installers (2) from the website for Bucks and they will contact themon monday
Guest RICHL Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Its crashed, due largely to non-servicing. Follow Pauls advice and get someone in. If it was me though I would be quoting for an upgrade as a minimum and not repairing what there is there now.
Guest Graham Fisher Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Thanks for the advice. I have already told them that they need to "Get a man in" and have given them the details of the two engineers listed on this forum who are located in Bucks. Was Quiet last night so hopefully will be OK tonight and on eof the guys can get to have a look at it on Monday. I amnot sure if spare parts are still available for the Concept 6 units.I have already warned them that they may have to have a newer system isnstalled and to get it regularly serviced

(lack of maintenace) They will be fine untill the mains is lost, (when the fuse was pulled out) then once mains is back on they can blow the circuit board on power up.... seen it many times. You could try powering it up off a new battery, then add mains,(best way to power them up, less surge) but if it doesnt take the code, its time for a new panel tbh
