cyberdog Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Hi, I have setup an Axis 207W IP camera to monitor the outside of the house. All works ok, however images of someone walking down the drive does not flow, instead it is jerky. Also the image has like a blur behind it as if it is going too fast. I would appreciate some help with the setup settings please. Thanks
Guest Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 don't use too much compression and use higher resolution..
james.wilson Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 how are you viewing are you using jpeg or mjpeg streaming. Go with the mjpeg but drop your framerate to 5 or 6 fps and see then. WHat is your bandwidth and how are you getting your images. If your at 30% signal on an 802.11b link you will probably be down to 1Mbs which aint much securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

I can view the video via a web browser remotely or directly over the lan. Either way the image is th same??
james.wilson Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 try limiting your frame rate. If you think about mjpeg is just basically a load of jpegs. if you running at 30k per image 30 fps is 900 KB per second. 802.11b runs at 11 megabits per second so 8 bits to a byte and checksum etc (10bits give or take) gives you 1.1 Megabyte per second Maximum. In reality you wont achive this. if you drop the fps to say 10 or 12 you will still get virtual full motion and half your bandwidth. or drop to 320x240 and see if that helps Does the 207 have mpeg? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

I will give it a go. I take it i am altering the correct setting. it is entitled Maximum Frame Rate. However it also says Frame rate per viewer. I can`t find any other frame rate to alter?? The 207W has MPEG-4. Would it be better if i was to use this setting instead??
